Balayage

Balayage Highlighting Supplies AND Training For The Salon Professional

Balayage (A French term for the sweeping motion of the colorists hand) has had a huge resurgence in the past year, literally sweeping through the fashion runways and Hollywood.

balayageThis highlighting paste was first published in the New York Times – Style Section in 1974. A young colorist from Paris wowed the crowd as he gently filtered fine strands of hair, and with light beautiful sweeping motions painted the hair. He did this without the commonly used foils, but with pieces of cotton and cellophane in order to separate the highlighted strands.

But before Artego, traditional French highlighting paste was the only way to achieve this lightly sun-kissed look. However achieving this amazing look took a great amount of time for a colorist to apply cotton and cellophane. The chemists at Artego wanted to break this time barrier that limited so many colorists from performing this popular technique, and NOT compromise the beautiful results of a well applied Balayage.

So Artego went back to the drawing board and saw a way to reformulate lightening pastes to form a thin skin-like membrane (similar to what separates the shell from the liquid in an egg)

The reformulation was a huge success. It allowed colorists to perform highlights in less than half the time and with incredible results!
